Shopping Cart Abandonment Part: 2

Published Fri. Dec. 21, 2012

In my previous article on SCA (Shopping Cart Abandonment) I discussed how to calculate the percentages of shopping cart and checkout abandonment. And, the average seems to be around 60-70% (despite complaints from marketing claiming these numbers are too high)

One of my NetSuite stores has, in 2012, a SCA rate of 66% was observed. This is right in the average range. Now, there are many reason why people abandon their carts, but there are a few things we can do to help remind them.

The “you have items in your cart” is a great visual reminder to potential customers to complete there order.

NetSuite also offers the ability to create a Saved Search based on shopping cart abandonment . This can be used to automatically email them (which I have not perfected yet) or simply call or email them one-to-one (which seem less like we are spying on them)
